MGB UV Protection & Material Durability Overview
Our EVOLUTION® Mobile Garbage Bins (MGB) are manufactured using high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with approximately 0.3% UV stabilizer additive, designed to improve resistance against sunlight exposure and reduce colour fading.
However, the actual UV durability depends on the level of sun exposure: The following estimates are based on typical outdoor Malaysian conditions and common HDPE material behaviour:
1-Year Scenario
Bin is placed in an open area under direct sunlight throughout the day. UV exposure is continuous. Colour fading / UV wash-out expected in approximately 1 year (+/–).
2-Year Scenario
Bin is placed facing west, with the rear side protected by a building. Exposure occurs mainly during afternoon-evening sunlight. Reduced UV exposure compared to full-day sun. Colour fading / UV wash-out expected in around 2 years (+/–).
3-Year Scenario
Bin is placed facing east, with the rear side protected by a building. Exposure occurs mainly during morning sunlight. Morning UV intensity is moderate. Colour fading / UV wash-out expected in around 3 years (+/–).
4–5 Year Scenario
Bins kept fully indoors, such as inside a refuse room, with no direct sunlight exposure. UV degradation is minimal. Colour and surface condition generally last 4–5 years or longer.
For example, our building faces west, the bins will receive afternoon to evening sunlight. With this type of partial exposure—only, the bin still last around 3 years (+/–) as shown in the photo provided.
